I am SO EXCITED to share this shoot on here! This was two years in the making, with a few failed attempts and finally the stars aligned and it all worked out perfectly! It helped that I’ve basically known these two since birth so it made for a fun trip up to the International Peace Gardens. I really wanted to shoot in the cactus gardens and knew that I wanted to create a really unique piece for the veil with orchids. I actually ended up picking up two $8 orchid plants from Walmart and snipped all the blooms off to use. Carlie did Abbie’s makeup in the backseat of my car on the drive up and it was flawless!! We got Abbie dressed in the public bathroom and I had Carlie help me pin a row of orchids to her hair once we got the veil in place. to have the blooms cascading down the veil I tied clear fishing wire to the comb of the veil and then strung the blooms onto three or four different strings. I pinned the ones that liked to twist around to the veil. Besides the fact that we thought we were melting in the heat this was such a cool place to see and shoot, and I am so glad we were able to make the trip up there. Carlie also did a second hair look without the veil and added some beautiful braids and both looks were so good, and that eye makeup was stunning! Amy at Robert’s Floral made the perfect bouquet that was so simple and beautiful. And Anne at White Lace lent us one of my all-time favorite dresses from Willowby by Waters, ( little fun fact I actually tried so hard to get my hands on this dress for a shoot in Salt Lake City I did and it didn’t pan out. now I know why, so this magic could happen!!) Anyways, hope you enjoy these as much as I do!
